If you are wondering why the PA Society would hold its famous annual holiday party in NYC, read Chris Freind’s debunking of any criticism about the weekend.
Love this quote by Freind:
It’s not about backroom deals and the coronation of candidates. It’s about people enjoying the company of folks whom they see only once a year. It’s about renewing long-lost friendships. It’s about swapping war stories, exchanging ideas, going shopping, seeing a Broadway play and taking in a show at Radio City.
(Personally, I attended and LOVED going to NYC. I can see why it has become such a tradition!)
And, then there’s John L. Micek’s Capitol Ideas Blog that tells us in his post on A Pennsylvania Society Geography Lesson that “the political geography of the districts of the 18 members of Congress that Pennsylvania will send to Washington in 2012 — was a main topic of discussion during the 113th annual gala weekend.”
And, yet many people walked away still unsure what their areas would encompass.
Finally, the Philadelphia Inquirer appears to have sent three writers to this gala weekend (Amy Worden, John Martin, and Thomas Fitzgerald, based on the byline) to report on the festivities and debates. The article begins:
Pennsylvania power brokers have made their holiday pilgrimage to Manhattan for those four days of networking, glad-handing, and elbow-rubbing known as the annual Pennsylvania Society gathering.
Well, yeah. And, it was AWESOME! Definitely a keeper. My first, not my last!
