city council

Local Democrats have started a facebook group to show their support for Republican Matt Holden in Tuesdays city council race. Here is some info from the group,

We support Matt Holden because we support public debate and open democracy more than any political party.

We fully favor and support Mayor Gray and a Democratic supermajority on Lancaster City Council. We simply believe in that there should be at least one elected official in our city of another party.

At the same time, we wouldn’t support just any minority-party representative. Matt Holden is an excellent and qualified candidate. He’s an intelligent young professional symbolic of the city’s bright future. He attends city council meetings and understands the issues well.

We support Matt Holden because we love our city too much to allow it to become a one-party state, and because we believe that Matt is a solid and qualified candidate who will serve our city well by representing a different point of view as public policy decisions are made.

The committee chair is Daniel Klotz and he can be reached via email at daniel@danielklotz.com

As a local Republican I completely agree with the sentiment, either party holding a super majority is not a good idea (that goes for the national level as well).
